Culture Spotlight Featuring Josiah DonMartin

Josiah "Supa Jones" DonMartin is a first generation American screenwriter, entrepreneur, and creative consultant. His production company, Play Lotto Studios has produced the wildly popular short film "God Bless You". He made his debut in 2018.

Tell us about your experience at the Hip Hop Film Festival? The HipHop film festival is fire , its very Dope & the networking possibilities are great, I first came in 2018 & won Best screenplay for my film "God Bless You." I'll always show the HHFF love for life.

Why are stories from the culture important? Stories from our culture are beyond important. It's imperative we tell our own stories to maintain control and protect our narratives. Hip Hop influences the world and everything around it. We have to protect its integrity.

What projects are you working on now? I am currently writing 4 children's books & a short film I hope to film before 2022.

Why do you think the Harlem Film House and Hip Hop Film Festival are important? The Harlem film house & the HHFF are gateways into our culture and a Hub for black creatives to thrive. The history goes back far and the future is looking good with events like HHFF.
